Will DBS PEth Replace The CDT Blood Test?

Medical science is always evolving so in my opinion its only a matter of time before the DVLA flips from the traditional CDT blood test to the new kid on the block, PEth. It stands for phosphotidylethanol - a real mouthful to say so thankfully someone renamed it.
If the DVLA adopts it then it will do more than CDT. For a start it's more accurate and much more sensitive. It will pick moderate drinkers or even the occasional drinker with a 2- 4week window.
What's more? You don't need a venous sample because PEth is so stable. The sample is taken from a finger prick test, put onto a card as a dried blood sample and mailed to the lab. And this test is going to be hard to beat because it has fewer false positives.
It will also be much more expensive. Maybe this will detract the drink drivers out there.
Watch this space, PEth Is Coming!!!
